Job Title:   SC Electrical Mechanical Technician

City: North Charleston / State: South Carolina                                                   

General Duties and Responsibilities

The Electrical Mechanical Technician will work as a part of the Production Support Team on both small- and large-scale mechanical and electrical maintenance, repairs, and installations.  They will be responsible for learning the mechanics of various industrial equipment, repairing electrical malfunctions, and working closely with packaging line operators.  This job will require strong troubleshooting and prioritization skills.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual, eager to learn, with a strong interest and aptitude in electrical and mechanical work.  They must understand how their work impacts team and Company goals, and be able to work with other departments in order to support production goals.  This position offers the opportunity to gain skills and experience in a collaborative and dynamic environment.  The Electrical Mechanical Technician will have the benefit of seeing the results of their work on a daily basis and the opportunity to work for continuous improvement.

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance, including cleaning machines and machine parts
  • Perform machinery repairs and facilitate upgrades as needed
  • Assist with equipment installations
  • Collaborate with other workers to repair or move machines, machine parts, or equipment
  • Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications
  • Inventory and requisition machine parts, equipment, and other supplies so that stock can be maintained and replenished
  • Troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical and mechanical equipment and maintain a log of each performed task with specific detail on repair work and procedure used
  • Assist with mechanical repairs, gear boxes, air compressors, and packaging equipment
  • Perform general electrical wiring, conduit bending, and assist with electrical installations

Job Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience in similar occupation
  • Proven ability to read blueprints and circuit diagrams
  • Possess general working knowledge of PLC’s, proximity switches, control and power circuits, electrical circuitry up to 480 volts, pneumatics, AC&DC circuits, Euro drive motors and breaks, and motor starters
  • MUST SUPPLY OWN TOOLS, including: Multi meter, channel locks, 6” and 8” screw drivers and crescent wrench, Allen wrenches, utility knife, and other general  tools
  • Able to work in a team or independently
  • Active listener and effective communicator
  • Able to complete tasks in a precise and timely fashion
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Safety-oriented
  • *Welding experience a plus
